I decided that this blog would be good for properly introducing myself.

As most people who know me will know, I can ramble on if you leave me to it, but put me on the spot & I suddenly can’t think of what to tell you!

I’ll start with the ‘now’, and my passions in life.

I retrained as a mind/energy therapist a number of years ago, whilst being a stay-at-home-mum.
I LOVE my job, and I think I’m slowly settling into my specialist area without even knowing exactly what it is!
I have worked with all sorts of things – weight & eating issues, anxiety & depression, motivation & procrastination (although I need to practice what I preach with that one!), sleeping troubles and worries, traumas and more.

I remember listening to one of my trainers who suggested finding your specialist area, as you then are more use to those clients. The term ‘Jack of All Trades and Master of None’ comes to mind. BUT how do you choose without experiencing different aspects of therapy? I decided just to let go, and follow the flow and see what comes to me. I haven’t made much effort to market myself, and the clients that have come to me have been from all over the place, so I wouldn’t know where to concentrate my marketing strategy on anyway!

My personal experiences have lead me to take an interest in relationship issues, sexual relationships as well as relationships in the ‘non couple’ way, for instance your relationship with work colleagues or neighbours. These are subjects that I love getting into, and I enjoy hearing the stories come back to me about how different life is for the person who came to see me, and the person that was involved in the other side of the relationship.

But now, chronic illnesses seem to be flooding my way. I am researching and taking training in Cancer Support. I have lost a number of relatives, including two aunties and one young uncle to cancer, and so I can see how the support isn’t just necessary for the patient. Life is uncomfortable and difficult for the family and friends too.
My support here isn’t just on an emotional level, but also working by integrating complimentary therapy to their conventional medical care. I stress the complimentary bit here, as that is exactly what it is.

Modern medicine certainly has its place when it comes to treating diseases such as cancer. Even though I use alternative medicine as much as possible, I know that if it was me or my loved ones with cancer, I’d want every possible hope and chance!
My current training utilises the mind therapies such as hypnosis, NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which is my favourite therapy as it is a fantastic balance of mind and energy – tapping on ancient meridian acupressure points whilst tuning into the negative feeling or emotion using words. It can feel funny at first, but works with amazing results. In fact, the more humour and feeling put into it, the better!
The cancer support training is taking me further into using diet to aid healing and recovery, such as chlorophyll rich foods, homeopathy, Qi Gong for gentle and energetic exercise. We’re looking at supporting the person in an emotional way, and in a physical way, alongside conventional medicine.

As I read on one website (drkatejames.com)  ‘There Really is Another Way!’

So, that’s my passion about my ‘job’, although I sometimes struggle to call it a job, as helping people heal in so many ways feels more like a blessing.

My other passions are my children of course! A handful at times, but so much fun. A few days ago, I heard some happy words from one of my daughters that I will keep as a reminder phrase for my job role as a mum: “Mummy, what is it about me that makes you love me so much?”  That makes me smile for so many reasons! Sometimes being a lone parent to four daughters can be trying, but never dull! And I’m well in demand for cuddles – another plus point!

On a ‘me’ point, my passions are… erm? Sometimes it’s a challenge to remember me!
I run, I dance, I sing (badly), I laugh, I love, I read, I ramble on,

Are you still there?
